Boyfriend lacks self confidence?

I love my boyfriend very much. He is absolutey gorgeous, warm, caring, talented, smart. But he doesn`t see any of that. He was in a couple of bad real relationships (including an engagement and she cheated) some time back apparently and I am his first real girlfriend since. He has a hard time showing his emotions sometimes, has trust issues and is afraid of getting hurt I know it. But I know he does love me I have no doubt. He gets so down sometimes. He is a people pleaser and gets taken advantage of sometimes and gets his feelings hurt easily even though he wont admit it I see it. He has trouble initiating sex, and is afraid he cant please me. He is shy of undressing in front of me still even though he has an amazing body. I can`t imagine what he went through to make him like this. I dont think his parents are very supportive either. He has a tough time accepting compliments. Has anyone else had these troubles?
