Post pregnancy and the pill?

ok gave birth to first child at the end of jan 2011 decided to go back on yasmin birth control pill. doctor recommended waiting until first period. last Wednesday the 13th april 2011 started what i believed to be my period so i began taking the pill. however the bleeding only lasted about 24 hours and was extremely light. i continued to take the pill. can anyone advise 1 what there first period was like after birth 2 how long it actually took to resume normality and 3 am i covered by the pill now given that that more that 7 days has elapsed
