Car stereo has power but no sound?

01 oldsmobile alero. Installed 4 new speakers and a kenwood kdc-mp245. Used a wiring harness and everything is hooked up correctly. Stereo lights up, shows the elapsed time of a cd playing, but there is no sound coming out. Is there a mute button or something on this stereo?
