On average, how long does a typical couple date before engagement?

Again...please...I know "everyone is different" and some couples do one thing while others do another, blah, blah, blah. I'm looking for what you think is the AVERAGE length of time that elapses from when a couple begin dating till when they get engaged. Thanks.
