Does your dermatologist have you get fully undressed every time?

Last summer I got a mild case of poison ivy on my ankles and my arms. I went to dermatologist who actually is a friend of a friend. He said since it was my first visit he needed to see ALL my skin, which seemed understandable to me. Every time I have been back for follow up visits he has me get fully undressed. Since we have friends in common he will also make small talk with me before and after the exam. Is full nudity the norm with dermatologists or is he being a little extra relaxed with me??
